RECENT PROJECTS

JDW The Barrel Vault, St Pancras

Our latest fit out project for our client Sanderson Contracts, the conversion of an M&S food hall into a new pub for JDW. A high level specification which included a lot of fire protection works, required due to the location within a train station, along with the issues of working around existing smoke ducts that were already in place. The project was completed on time in September 2018.

JDW THE IRON DUKE, WELLINGTON

November 2016, another JDW completed on time and incorporating some fantastic ceiling features.

Christopherson Building, Durham University

In July 2012 we agreed an order with Surgo Construction to complete various ceiling and plasterboard linings. The works were part of the Universities on-going modernisation and upgrading of their facilities and were a direct result of the change of function for various rooms within the engineering block.

Highfield School

In September 2012, Kier Construction contracted us to complete the plasterboard linings and suspended ceilings to a new extension on Highfield School in Sunderland. The work involved lining out the structural steel internal and external walls before completing a suspended ceiling throughout the extension. In January 2013, we received a second order to repair an existing ceiling.

North Shield Metro Station

In March 2012, we signed a contract with Maygurney to complete the partitions, suspended ceilings, and various design features to the new Metro station. During the course of the contract, we received several additions that increased our work load. The contract was completed while the Metro line was still active and on the site of the old demolished building.

JDW Rutherglenn, An Ruadh Ghlean

The next Wetherspoons contract we worked on was in Glasgow. We received the order for this site in September 2012 and made a start on site in the same month. The works followed the standard pattern of partitions and ceilings. The works were supplemented with an inverted ceiling feature that ‘snaked’ from the front to the rear of the main trade area.

JDW Halifax, The Percy Shaw

In September 2012, we also received the order for the internal package for a new build Wetherspoons , the first new build pub we worked on, in Halifax, which ran concurrently with the Rutherglenn development. In addition to the standard works, we also completed various ceilings features including suspended rafts and lighting troughs along with a fire barrier between the trade and back of house areas. At the end of the contract we were called back to site to offer insight and advice regarding sound from the plant area being heard in the trade areas. As a variation to the contract, we completed a shaftwall around the full plant area which prevented the noise escaping.

The Sheeps Heid, Duddington Edinburgh

In October 2011, we received an order to complete partitions and ceilings in the Sheep Heid pub, which was located just a few miles from the Musselbrough contract we were working on. The pub is one of the oldest in Scotland and was to undergo a complete gut out and refurbishment to bring it up to current standards and regulations.

JDW Crook, The Horseshoe Inn

At the time of writing, the latest fit out we have completed is The Horseshoe Inn in Crook, County Durham. This was the smallest building we had worked in to date, which presented various problems with space and storage while working around other trades. The order was received at the start of November 2012 and working across the Christmas break, we completed the works in time for the pub’s opening at the start of February 2013.
