Lawson & Cowell Ltd., formed in the late 70’s as C & L Coatings, a partnership between childhood  friends, Dennis Cowell and Trevor Lawson.

Both coming from outside the construction industry they saw the potential of the” Dry Lining” system as a  revolutionary asset to the quality and speed of completion for House builders. Initially both working on  site for the first few years, the business gradually increased its numbers by  employing and training apprentices and new operatives.

By 1988 with several  employees and an increasing workload it was decided that the company should  go  “Limited”.

Throughout the 90’s Lawson  & Cowell continued to train new operatives, expanding the company and  gaining an increasing share of the major North East house builders dryline  finishing, including the provision of British Gypsum metal partition systems  for Developers such as Leech Homes, Bellway Homes, Persimmon, and Wimpey. This  provided the catalyst for the company to develop into one of the largest  Drylining and Partitioning contractors in the North East employing over 100  staff.

Lawson & Cowell quickly  became the benchmark drylining company in the area for providing assured  quality and organisation abilities, and an after sales service appreciated by  all Developers. Being a Family based firm has played a very important part in  maintaining the integrity and ethos of expansion and for providing close  friendly links with all its customers.

In recent years the company  has continued to develop its expertise by expanding into commercial  contracting, working for Contractors such as Amec, Gleeson, Tolant, Gentoo, and  in addition working closely with developers on Social Housing, which has become  an increasingly important sector in today’s competitive market place.

Lawson & Cowell Ltd., continues to be at the forefront for the supply and installation of drywall  systems. Working throughout the North East of England from North Yorkshire to the Scottish Borders, we are willing and able to  provide our expertise to all types of project, from small extensions to multi  million pound contracts.
